More than 20
years ago, Molift’s founder and inventor, the engineer and
designer Hans Kasper Andresen, was hospitalised for a long period.
And it was there, in his hospital bed, that he got the idea. Hans
Kasper, among friends and colleagues only known as Kappern, quickly
understood how much strain to their backs, shoulders and arms nurses
suffered when lifting or moving men, quite often big and heavy.
Surrounded by sketches jotted down on napkins, scraps of newspapers and magazines, he transformed his idea into what was to become the world’s first battery-powered personal lifter. Kappern’s wife, who is a physiotherapist, provided valuable information about lifting techniques, the strain and injuries wrong lifting can lead to and the importance that lifts are performed so as to avoid aggravating the patient’s condition. Ever since the first Molift lifter was developed, this has indeed been our basic idea: we develop products with functions that copy the body’s natural movement pattern to the largest possible extent.
Today, 20 years later, we are still searching for ideas for unique functions and solutions for our products. What is most important to us is to create products that help improving people's everyday life - products that are Designed for Life.
The Molift head Office is in Oslo, Norway. Molift lifters and Molift Recliners are produced in Gjøvik, Norway, Molift Transfer System in Gausdal, Norway and Molift Beds in Svartå, Sverige.
Molift has subsidiary companies in Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom and the USA. Molift products are developed and produced to very strict quality standards providing innovative functional solutions – we also aim to provide the best service in the market to our customers and users. Our aim is that all our products will exceed all national and international standards and regulations; as a result, our products carry a guarantee for up to 5 years.
Established in 1999, Molift’s UK base in Manchester is a self contained business, with sales and engineering coverage throughout the UK. Product and spare parts are held in our warehouse, available for immediate dispatch.
